What Do You Write When You Have Nothing to Write? This is us today just in case you’re wondering 🥲
We’re showing up, trying our best to keep the promise we made to ourselves (and to you!) to have a blog post up every Monday at 6:30pm.
The truth? Some days, the words flow effortlessly. Other days, it feels like we’ve run out of every possible thing to say. But here’s what we’ve learned - consistency matters more than motivation. And showing up, even when it’s hard, always pays off.
Here’s what’s been helping us stay consistent even on the “blank page” days:
1. Start with the mindset
Consistency is built on mindset, not mood. There will be days when you don’t feel inspired or creative, and that’s okay. What matters is that you show up anyway. Sometimes, just opening your journal and writing a single sentence is enough to keep the streak alive.
2. Plan your topics ahead
Sounds simple, but it’s a game changer. Having topics planned out in advance saves you from last-minute panic and helps you approach any creative project with clarity. (The weekly planner is perfect for this) It gives you direction. So instead of thinking, “What do I even create?” you already have a roadmap waiting.
3. Create and schedule in advance
This is the ultimate creative hack. ✨ When inspiration strikes, use that momentum! Create more than one piece if you can and schedule ahead. There have been times we’ve had posts lined up three weeks in advance, and the peace that brings? Unmatched!
4. Set aside time to execute
A plan won’t execute itself; you still have to make it happen.
Block out a specific time in your week just for your project (for us, it’s Thursdays at 4:00pm). Treat it like a non-negotiable meeting. And if life happens, which it sometimes will, reschedule quickly, but don’t delete it. Keeping it in your calendar helps you stay accountable to your goals.
5. Build accountability
Accountability helps you stay on track when motivation fades. It could look like telling your audience what to expect (“new post every Monday at 6:30pm 👀”), sharing your progress with a friend, or working alongside someone who’s also trying to stay consistent. When others know what you’ve committed to, it gives you that little nudge to actually follow through - even on the days you don’t feel like it.
Bonus - Reward yourself
Celebrate your effort, not just your results 🥳 Sometimes the win is simply keeping your word to yourself. Other times, go all out and treat yourself to something small and meaningful. For us, it’s a slice of cake from Choux Bakery today, simply because we didn’t break the streak when we easily could have. Whatever your version of a “reward” looks like, make sure to pause, acknowledge your progress, and remind yourself that you’re doing great.
Here’s to showing up.
Here’s to keeping promises to ourselves.
Here’s to consistency - especially when it’s hard 💃🏽
Hugs,
